Disconnnected the remaining hard drive SSD. Windows 10 then would not boot.

Windows 10 install then started and ran really quickly from the SSD. It's best to use AHCI mode for optimal performance with an ssd. Spending more for a GB ssd might be useful in the future if you build a new system gigabgte move your ssd to your new system.
